Above is a sketch of my friend Buntu... he saw some of the drawings and paintings I did as a kid and said that he will only be able to see if I can draw if I do a portrait of him. I procrastinated but finally finished it. I am yet to give it to him and hear what he has to say!

Pretty Patterns

I bought these beautifull 50's, 60's and 70's dress patterns a while ago for next to nothing... in total they cost me R8,50! Now I just need someone who can make them for me... any takers? :)

Culmination of jewellery course

And so the jewellery course I recently started doing came to an end last week :(.

Above are three pieces I made from silver. It was very interesting to be exposed to all the processes involved in creating silver jewellery for instance rolling, soldering, sawing, filing, hammering etc.

Would love to have a studio where I can create more pieces of jewellery.

Girls just wanna have FUN!!

Last weekend my girlfriends and I went to Robertson to visit our friend Lizelle in her new home.

We helped her turn her garden into a Chelsea entry....or at least that's what we think!

Above are some pictures I took of special corners in and around her house... looks like it came straight out of the pages of an interior design magazine!

Beginners Jewellery Classes

I recently started taking a part time course in Beginners Jewellery Design and Manufacture and I made this ring in my first class. It still needs to be polished and can be engraved. Its so much fun to design and make jewellery. I love working with my hands!

I just love the show pushing daisies. The colourful interiors and fashion make my Thursday evenings!

Drawing Hands

We're studying the anatomy of the human body in illustration class at the moment and this week, I'm focusing on drawing hands. I'm trying to draw a hand each week. This is what I have so far.

Hands are so expressive, one can sometimes only look at the hands of others to know what they are feeling or trying to say. For instance, the hands in the two pictures above convey two very different feelings. The first one being soft and experimental and the second one is strong and forceful.

Last night's kickoff concert in Orlando Stadium, Soweto

I woke up to a celebration of vuvuzelas in the streets this morning. The FIFA World Cup is here at last! After years of preparation we can finally welcome the world  to our beautiful country. The best thing for me about this whole event is the way in which it unified us as South Africans. We have put aside all the negative feelings and actions and now share the same feeling... absolute rapture!!

If I could choose a store to be my closet, I would surely pick Anthropologie! Their clothes are so smart-sassy-cute and beautiful! Each item has a pretty name too like "Cloudfish Skirt", "Catmint Dress" and "Things & Joys Dress". The Americans are SO lucky! :(

Winter Is Upon Us!

Although it's not my favourite season (summer is!), I finally decided to accept the fact that winter is upon us and sought out some interior inspiration to get myself in the mood for this cold and wet time of year.
