Before and After: Chest of Drawers

I bought this chest of drawers a few months ago and finally got around to giving it a makeover. I drew inspiration from the beautiful pieces sold by Vamp Furniture as well as Saks Corner, both in Woodstock, Cape Town. The knobs on the drawers are from Poetry.

It took a lot of hard work that included sanding, painting, glueing and clamping, but I must say, I am very happy with the end result. I also learned a lot and have a good tip: if the drawers run on timber, rub a candle over the pieces on the sides of each drawer as well as on the parts that enable the them to slide. It really works wonders!

Above is a sketch of my friend Buntu... he saw some of the drawings and paintings I did as a kid and said that he will only be able to see if I can draw if I do a portrait of him. I procrastinated but finally finished it. I am yet to give it to him and hear what he has to say!

Pretty Patterns

I bought these beautifull 50's, 60's and 70's dress patterns a while ago for next to nothing... in total they cost me R8,50! Now I just need someone who can make them for me... any takers? :)

Culmination of jewellery course

And so the jewellery course I recently started doing came to an end last week :(.

Above are three pieces I made from silver. It was very interesting to be exposed to all the processes involved in creating silver jewellery for instance rolling, soldering, sawing, filing, hammering etc.

Would love to have a studio where I can create more pieces of jewellery.

Girls just wanna have FUN!!

Last weekend my girlfriends and I went to Robertson to visit our friend Lizelle in her new home.

We helped her turn her garden into a Chelsea entry....or at least that's what we think!

Above are some pictures I took of special corners in and around her house... looks like it came straight out of the pages of an interior design magazine!

Can't wait to visit her again!
